Healing the Hurting Heart

Every woman knows what it is to carry a heavy heart. Grief, betrayal, rejection, loss — these wounds do not always show, but they press deeply. Scripture does not shy away from this reality. From Hannah weeping at the temple to Mary standing at the foot of the cross, the Bible is full of women in pain — and a God who draws near to them.
I live with pain every day. People who look at me may not see it, and most don't. Those who know me can tell when I'm not feeling well. Having a heart transplant ten years ago, added to a glorious life I get to live. However, the side effects from the meds, a weakened immune system, and adjustments your body makes from having the vagus nerve severed, takes its toll on you. Its silent and most days no one knows the struggle but me.
But what about those silent emotional wounds? Their impact is just as great.
God Sees Your Tears
Hagar, alone in the wilderness and weeping over her dying son, had an encounter that changed her life: God spoke to her by name. She called Him El Roi — "the God who sees me." If you feel invisible in your pain, take heart: you are not. Your tears are not lost on Him.
"You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?" Psalm 56:8
You are Allowed to Grieve
Healing does not begin by pretending everything is fine. Naomi returned from Moab with nothing but grief and told her community plainly: "Call me Mara — for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me." God honored her honesty. Lament is not a lack of faith; it is faith that trusts God enough to be real with Him.
Rest in His Promises
Isaiah 61 describes the Messiah coming to "bind up the brokenhearted" and to give "a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning." This is not a distant hope — it is an active, promised work. Jesus quoted these very words to announce His mission. He came for women like you.
"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7
Healing is a Journey, not a Moment
The woman who touched the hem of Jesus' garment had suffered for twelve years. Her healing was instant, but her faith had been quietly building through every long, hard day before that moment. Your journey is not a detour — it is part of the story God is writing.
Dear friend, your heart was not meant to carry this alone. Bring it to the One who loves you--and trust that the same hands that formed you are gently, faithfully healing you.
